Analysis of Cellular Components in TME
In the tumor microenvironment (TME), a diverse array of cellular components interact with one another and engage with cancer cells. At Alfa Cytology, we recognize the crucial significance of analyzing cellular components within the TME to unveil the intricacies of cancer advancement and discover viable therapeutic targets.
Cellular Components in TME
Developing effective cancer therapies requires a comprehensive understanding of TME's cellular components and functions. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), a crucial cellular component, have the ability to reshape the extracellular matrix, offering structural reinforcement to the tumor. Additionally, they contribute to immune evasion and therapy resistance. While immune cells such as T cells, natural killer cells (NK cells), and dendritic cells within the TME attempt to eliminate cancer cells at the initial stages of tumorigenesis, cancer cells ultimately evade immune surveillance and suppress cytotoxic abilities of tumor-antagonistic immune cells through diverse mechanisms. Moreover, myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) have an immunosuppressive effect, which contributes to the progression of cancer.
